Fall Enrichment classes will be announced soon.

Dear Parents and Campers,

We are looking forward to working with you this summer! Both HPAC Summer Camps will have sessions focusing on Audition Skills, Character Development, Vocal Instruction, Choreography, Make-up, and more, culminating in a final production, which will be open to the community. Throughout the week(s), campers will get to work with their peers and instructors, building confidence as performers.

Since we will be turning a show around in a short time (one week for the The Little Mermaid, Jr. camp and two weeks for Newsies), we expect each camper to work hard and participate fully. Here is some additional information about what to expect:

All students will be expected to be respectful of “social distancing”. We know that this is a new concept for young people and some might not practice “social distancing” while not at HPAC, however, for us to have these camps, we must insist that this be practiced. You must pick up our own trash (this really is an issue.) Everyone will have their temperature taken when they arrive at HPAC. Masks are strongly encouraged but not required. The bathrooms will be disinfected throughout the day and the large areas, will be “misted.” There will be no “hugging” or “horseplay” tolerated at all. Any failure in abiding in these rules will result in dismissal without reimbursement.

Even though every camper will be in the show, we encourage each camper to participate in the audition process. This is a good experience for learning what to expect in an audition. We ask that each student prepare 30-90 seconds of a Broadway-style song to perform to an instrumental track. As you know, these will be virtual videos. We have sent you “sides” to read from and a video of the choreography. You will need to have the campers videoed and these videos sent to us by June 15th. All payments are due by June 15th. You can call the theatre and leave a message at 615-826-6037 and someone can also call you back to process your payment.

CAMP: Campers need to arrive on time each morning of camp, ready to begin right at 9 a.m. Please arrive 15 minutes early on the first day so that we can give you your tee shirt. For protection and safety, we ask that all students be dropped off at the door. We will have an adult standing by to make sure that all students move safely into the building. We ask that you line up outside (school dismissal style) to pick your children up. An adult will supervise dismissal. We feel that it is in the best safety of everyone involved not to have parents in the building during the camp. No student under 16 will be allowed to leave the theater without it being approved by a parent or guardian.

Each camper will need to bring a sack lunch and drink daily. Students attending Camp 1 will not be allowed to leave the theater to get lunch unless accompanied by an adult or they have permission to go across the hall to Sax Deli (camper will need money to purchase a lunch there); Camp 2 students may go to Sax Deli or elsewhere, as long as they have parent/guardian permission. If a camper leaves the theater for lunch, he/she will need to be back when the lunch hour ends. If campers do not return to the theater on time, we will have to call parents, as it is our responsibility to make sure that all campers are safe and accounted for. There will be drinks available at the theater concession stand for $2 for sodas and $1 for bottled water. A five-gallon container of ice water will be available for campers all day long. We also will provide a morning and afternoon snack for campers, though all campers may pack additional snacks/drinks if they would like to. (If a camper has a food allergy that we need to alert other campers to for safety, please let one of the directors know. Thank you!)

Campers need to wear modest clothing that will allow them to move freely and not be a distraction. PLEASE wear closed-toe shoes, such as tennis shoes. (NO flip-flops, sandals or bare feet!) If campers have jazz shoes or character shoes, they may wear those. Long hair should be pulled back and out of the face. Once roles are determined, campers will be responsible for procuring their own costumes and make-up; however, we do have a costume department that we will be able to utilize to fulfill some of the costuming needs. Other items, such as leotards and tights, each camper will need to purchase for him/herself. HPAC also is willing to purchase certain costumes and items that can be used by our rental department. We will reach out to individuals as we determine what we have and what we need to have.

All campers will have a professional headshot taken at camp and can be sent a digital copy of it upon request.

Both camps will run from 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Please be prompt in picking up your camper at the end of each day. If you find yourself running late, please call Lynlea Keightley at 615-642-0658 for the The Little Mermaid Jr. camp or Kym Sims at 615-585-7818 for the Newsies camp. You may also call the theater at 615-826-6037, but we are not always immediately available to answer the theater phone or return messages.

All campers will receive a script for their respective show. Newsies campers will need to return their script at the end of camp. Only pencil may be used to make notes in the Newsies script, and each script must be returned fully erased before the last performance. HPAC will be charged a fee by the publisher for any original script that has been lost or damaged. That fee will be charged to the camper. All The Little Mermaid Jr. campers get to keep their scripts and can write in them as they wish. We expect each camper who has assigned lines to learn their lines and be off-book (lines memorized completely) by the second day of camp. We have the scripts now and we will be at the theatre and can hand them out to you on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm. We will also be here Saturdays from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm through June 27th. Please try to have all of your scripts picked up by this time.

Moms and Dads! We are looking for extra help during the performances, concessions, ticket sales, ushering and cleaning between shows. There will be a sign-up sheet for volunteers available at the box office. Please consider volunteering to help with at least one performance. Thank you! Also, Moms and Dads, there will be a lost and found in the Box Office that you and your camper may check in the mornings for any missing items.

All tickets for both shows will be $10. Tickets sell out quickly!!! When you purchase your ticket(s), you may reserve you seat(s), just like for a regular HPAC show. If you have a special circumstance such as someone in a wheelchair, please let us know so that we can accommodate you for the shows. In an effort to keep our camp fees down, there are no comp tickets given in accordance with your camp fees. The ticket money goes to HPAC for allowing us to use their facility for our Intensive Camps.

Just a reminder – there is no videotaping or photography allowed during the performances. We will videotape the show and offer DVDs when they become available. This usually occurs about a month after the end of both camps. DVDs will be $5/disc; longer shows sometimes require two discs.

If it is determined, that your student is a party to any behavioral issues, they will be dismissed from the camp. In this situation, there will be no refunds given.

If you have any questions, please call us! We look forward to working with you and having a terrific camp experience!

See you at HPAC!
